IIT Roorkee decided to relocate GATE 2025 test centers from Prayagraj because of the Mahakumbh Mela currently happening there. Candidates who chose Prayagraj as their examination site must now attend the GATE 2025 test at specified test centers located in Lucknow. The authorities have distributed newly updated admit cards including details about new exam locations.
Exam-Day Guidelines
- Before joining the exam hall for verification purposes candidates need their printed GATE admit card combined with one valid ID proof which includes Aadhaar, PAN card, Passport, Driving License or Voter ID.
- Candidates need to reach the test location exactly 90 minutes ahead of the examination kickoff. The testing instructions will be available for access starting 20 minutes before the start time. The test will progress through all questions as a Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode delivers questions to candidates on their computer screens.
- Succeeding candidates can appear for one or two test papers from a virtual range of 30 subjects. The test will come with a virtual scientific calculator on the screen because personal calculators remain forbidden during testing.
- The examination will provide test candidates with rough work scribble pads that need both name and registration number entries before usage. The exam allows the use of only a single scribble pad during the test. The candidate needs to hand back their used pad to the invigilator before obtaining another one. The return of all scribble pads remains mandatory during the exam conclusion.
- All exam hall candidates must abandon mobile phones together with smartwatches and Bluetooth devices as well as written materials and pouches and wallets boxes and electronic or communication devices. The GATE officials will handle no personal belongings at the examination site, so unauthorized items lead to immediate disqualification of candidates.
- The time frame during exams for PwD candidates with compensatory time extends to the hall closing times of 12:30 PM for morning sessions and 5:30 PM for evening sessions.
Final Reminder for Candidates
Candidates should ensure they meet all exam-day requirements in advance and stay updated by regularly checking the official GATE 2025 website for any further announcements.
